Drumroll, please! Here is the long awaited for post about our house (To read the "story" of our house, click here)! I'm sooo sorry I haven't posted it earlier...
Note: All captions are underneath each image
So without further ado, let the fun begin!
The house looked like this when we started renovating.
(Click on "Continue reading this post" to read the rest of the post)
The Living Room
This is what you saw when you walked in the front door. This is also what greeted us the very first time we saw the house.
Removing the carpet - there were (and are) beautiful oak floors underneath. We didn't have to do a thing to them, they were in such good condition.
After
The Dining Room
The Kitchen/Breakfast Room
The breakfast room
Taking off the old countertops
The old stove...
This...
And this...
This bathroom was covered in black flowery wallpaper (Sadly I don't have a picture of it)...this is how it looked after it was scraped.
This is how it looks now. We kept the tile and "appliances" but repainted the wall part.
The Master Bedroom
This...
...is now this.
And this...
Before
After
He chose to keep the burlap that covers the wall...I think it fits beautifully with his furniture.
The Basement
Before
After
This...
...is now this (And if you've ever wanted to know what my "workspace" looks like, here you are! This is where I blog from, do school, etc. And in case you're wondering...that black shiny thing is my laptop. I took me a minute to figure out what it was myself...).
After
The Guest "Quarters"
(The guest quarters are separated from the house - it's off of the garage. It was formerly the maid's quarters)
After (The bathtub was there when we bought the house - it's been there as long as the house has, since 1934. My dad painted it red.)
And this is what our house looks like with some Christmas decorations...
I hope you enjoyed the "tour"! As you can see, we still have things to do...art to put up, find out the best way to arrange the furniture, etc, but that will all fall into place in its own good time. :)
Note: Not pictured is the upstairs bathroom, basement half bathroom, mudroom, and library.
