beauty

8.02.2010

I apologize for not posting yesterday...we went on a little day trip, as my dad had to preach at another congregation - and I needed a little break from blogging. I hope you understand :)

Yesterday it rained while it was sunny outside. I'm not talking about a little shower, I'm talking about a real thunderstorm. Okay, so there wasn't any lightning, but there was thunder and it was raining hard.

When the thunderstorm passed, it felt like a rain forest outside. It was hot, humid, sunny, and everything was wet. But it also made for some wonderful photos.

The water droplets that still clung to objects sparkled and shimmered like tiny prisms in the sunlight. It was breathtaking.

Even though I didn't see a rainbow in the sky, I found one in the last photo (bottom right hand corner). See it? It made my day.

It's times like these that make me love photography even more. Some are content just to see beauty with their eyes, but that's not enough for me. No, when I see something that's beautiful to me, I have to capture it in a photo. When I press the shutter release button, and here that familiar "click", I'm satisfied the beauty will last forever. Only then do I truly appreciate something beautiful. I will never, ever tire of it.

  5. Hi Carlotta!
wow! I love raindrops after a rain! :) Raindrops and clouds are to me like your "obbsession" w/ flowers ;)

What camera do you use again? I'd like to buy myself one but I need to do research and your pictures turn out great so I though I'd start here. :)

  7. Wow! I LOVE your pics! They're so amazing. By the way, thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog. I really appreciate it! I had to laugh, though, because when I saw that you're a pastor's daughter it made me think of my own self. My dad will soon become the associate pastor at my church in January (I think). Anyways, how did you find my blog? Just wondering.

  14. Olive Tree, Josie, and Daughter of the King - I have a Nikon D3000 and mostly shoot with an 18-55 mm lens. Highly, highly, recommend the D3000...it's fairly easy to use, although there was a mildly steep learning curve for me, as it was my first DSLR. I still don't know everything it can do, but I *have* gotten out of Automatic mode and mainly shoot in Aperture priority :)

Farmgirl - Getting three columns the way I got it is pretty difficult...you have to know more about HTML (The coding for your blog). But if you use the new Blogger template designer (Blogger in draft...Google it, then sign in like you normally do, design > template designer), you can get three columns with a click of a button.

  19. I use Nikon D3000 as well! I love it! Same here though, I am just learning and it's been maybe two month since I was able to use M mode, I love to controll everything! I am not as good as you are though! You really have a talent! But then again, I wish I would have the same beauty arround to capture - I live in Vegas for goodness sake. :)
