And I could not be any happier. I'm so, so thankful for this reprieve from the craziness that is school. The principle of the online school where I take a few of my classes asked the teachers not to give us too much homework so we could enjoy our time off...I love him. :)
2. a little bokeh tutorial.
After I shared my Chocolate Bokeh On Cloud Nine photo, I got so many questions asking how to achieve bokeh. It's really very simple. On my SLR, I focus on some light and purposely make it as out of focus as I can (I usually manually focus for this). Then, I just click the shutter and there you have it! If you have a point and shoot camera, you can sometimes "trick" your camera into giving you bokeh. Try putting it on the flower, macro, or close up setting and take a picture. There's no guarantee that it'll work, though...on my point and shoot I was never able to coax it into taking a bokeh filled photo.

3. chocolate ice cream with frozen raspberries.
This is one of my favorite desserts...and it's even better with whipped cream on top. So yummy. Try it sometime! You'll definitely love it. Unless you don't, you know, like chocolate. Or raspberries. That might be a bit of a problem.
What's your favorite afternoon pick me up dessert?
4. harry potter.
Am I the only one who isn't head over heels in love with this series? I don't hate it, but I don't exactly love it either. With part one of the seventh movie having just come out, it seems everywhere I go I run into it...oh well, I'll live. ;)
5. let's talk shoes.
I'm such a sucker for cute shoes. Like these adorable pumps. Swoon. Although, let's face it. I could never walk in them. I'm clumsy enough as it is...I really couldn't handle a five inch heel. Heck, I can barely handle a three inch heel. But a girl can dream, can't she?
What do you prefer when it comes to shoes? Do you strive for comfort? (No pun intended...) Or are you all for cute shoes, no matter how painful they are? I'm somewhere in the middle...although I don't have any shoes that are super painful.

6. so pretty.
I was out in our yard a few days ago when I came across this little pink shoot growing from a dead bush. I was drawn in by the color and snapped some shots. Does anyone know what kind of plant it is? I'm kind of in love with it :)
7. pages.
I've changed some of the pages at the top of my blog...I rewrote my photography page and updated the page with my favorite bloggers. I also reworked the URLs for each of the pages...it was really bugging me that the URLs didn't match with the titles. Yeah, I'm a bit type a. Why do you ask?
8. speaking of type a...
I have other examples if you're not convinced yet. For example, I can't stand it when there are black marks from the lead on pencil erasers. And I hate it when the eraser is rounded instead of flat on top. My sheets can't be wrinkled when I go to sleep. It bugs me to no end when they are. Oh, and if I go to bed without brushing my teeth, my skin crawls. But oddly enough, I like having a clean room, but it doesn't bother me too much if it's messy. Weird.
Do you have any funny quirks?
Happy Sunday!
-carlotta

great post!those pumps are awesome and I really want to try bokeh!
ReplyDeleteI'm attempting to force myself to wear high heel shoes - but usually, I can't. I'm soooo clumsy I'd probably end up twisting my ankle. *snort* But, I am wearing a pair with a thicker heel for our local highschool formal. And, it's like, four inch heels (Eek! haha) I definitely go for comfort - if I'm able, I go barefoot! :D
ReplyDelete(Oh, funny thing, I just read your photography page, and my first camera was pink too. *grin*)

Oh my goodness. LOVE the pretty picture of your ice cream and raspberries. That looks too delicious for words. Scrumptious! : )
ReplyDeleteI love your randomness :) thankful to that you can enjoy your vacation from school and not be bogged down with studies :) the shoot you photographed is sweet beauty! Have a wonderful time off from your studies :)
ReplyDeleteI love those shoes! I want them... I'd wear 'em everyday with skinny jeans. :P I don't care how much shoes hurt. But I LOVE when I find comfortable heels. My favorite shoes are these 4 1/2 in wedges that are really very comfortable. But it's odd that I never fall over, because at any other time I'm a HUGE klutz!!
ReplyDelete(And I LOVE Harry Potter, lol.)

Thanks for the mini tutorial, I'll have to try it sometime! :) And you're not alone! I haven't read any of the Harry Potter books or seen any of the movies! About the shoes, I would tolerate painful shoes depending on how cute they are. And nice photo! I don't know what it is, but I like it! I'll check out your updated pages! Great post!
ReplyDeleteI love chocolate ice cream with raspberries!
ReplyDeletei just reread your photography page and my first (also my current camera) camera is red. great post!
ReplyDeletealthough i can't agree with u on 1 thing
I LOVE HARRY POTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [ten million more exclamation points]
I read your photography page and saw you got a Nikon D3000. I have been looking at that. But what kind of memory card does it take? Whats the size of it?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Ashley Jean
the ice cream and plant pictures are SO pretty!
ReplyDeleteCame upon your blog last night and let me just say that I love it and the pretty pics you take.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: I'm going to sound dumb to some of you and maybe it's because I don't know photography, but what is bokeh?
And no, you're not the only one that isn't head over heels with Harry Potter. I'm not either. Truly that series has never really caught my interest.
Hooray for Thanksgiving break. My starts on Wednesday! :)
Shoes! Oh my goodness I could go on for hours! I'm an every kind of shoe girl. FOr casual I usually am in flats, super girly of course. In the Summer at least. I'm not big on flip flops, but I'll wear them. I love dressing up, and what better to accent an outfit than six inch stilettos? Fact: I can't walk for days after, but they are so cute!
ReplyDeleteThat link you posted, oh my goodness, I'm in love. They will be in my closet soon! :) Thankyou!
Sometimes I think I'm the queen of quirks! I actually can't get anything done if my little home isn't perfectly clean and put together-I think it's because my dad is a bit of a slob, and despite my mother's best efforts, my childhood home was never quite picture perfect!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely someone who likes their shoes comfortable. I can balance well enough in heels, but I don't like them--they're too painful. :P
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip on Bokeh - I think I shall go trot off and find something to snap a picture of. :)
ReplyDelete((the chocolat and raspberries? yum!))
*hugs*
Chocolate. sorry. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures! :) You are such a great photographer! Reminds me, I'm doing a modest photo contest over at my blog {the link: theblondstyleblog.blogspot.com} and I'd like to invite you to enter! You have such a cool style, and your photography skills are great, so you should definetely enter. I'm just sayin'. :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

Those choclate and raspberry photos are terrific! Not to mention how good it looks to eat! ~ I always enjoy stopping by.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you on the whole harry potter thing. :P and I love the picture of the plant!
ReplyDeletep.s.- check out my 'give thanks' link up if you're interested! :)

I love shoes so naturally I had to click on your link. :) They are very cute and not too high at all.
ReplyDeleteHi Carlotta! I just found your blog and i'm excited to keep reading :) lovely photos you have on here too!
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures, they are gorgeous!! =]
ReplyDelete-sK
Yum! They look great!
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a shoe girl much, but I like my red ballet flats.
Nope. I am not a Harry Potter fan either! I haven't read or seen any of them.
YUM chocolate ice cream with frozen raspberries sounds amazing!!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness those shoes are beautiful! I haven't worn heels really since I had my son 3 years ago, can't really imagine chasing a toddler around in those!
ReplyDeleteOh and I have plenty of weird quirks, one being that the TV or radio volume must always be set at a multiple of 3. Even if I'm not watching TV and my husband is, I can totally hear it if it's not on the right volume and will go change it.
oh. those shoes are to die for! and of course, their Steve Maddens. <3
ReplyDeleteanother thing...
carlotta?!? Hazel and Freckles made it on your Good Reads list?! shoo girl. honored to the max. :)
Grace - Bokeh is defined as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light". You can click on the link I gave up there to see my bokeh photo. You can read more about bokeh hereif you're still interested :)
ReplyDeleteThat flower/plant whatever is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh... I don't like Harry Potter at all either. Haha. Oh my. That chocolate ice cream with raspberries looks SO YUMMY!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! it makes sense now! thanks for explaining that too me Carlotta. Your pictures are gorgeous. Loved the bokeh! (Now I can really say so since I know what it means).;)
ReplyDeleteI love that pink branch- so pretty and delicate! I have to say though, I'm totally caught up in Harry Potter. :)
