awkward and awesome thursday.

awkward
Tripping up the stairs. While people are watching you. Thank goodness for handrails.

Looking at food blogs while ravenous. Pure torture.

Finding the perfect pair of oxford pumps, the ones I've been searching for months, only to discover the sizes left were an eight and a half and a seven and a half. I wear a size eight. Why must I have the most common shoe size in the country?

rattlesnake

Being an inch apart at eye level with a rattlesnake at the zoo, watching it in terrified awe (let's just say that I'm not exactly a snake lover). And then, two seconds after moving to another animal, hearing it strike your brother. Of course it was behind glass, but still...shudder.

– Rude anonymous commenters. Why do those people feel to need to put others down like that? It makes me so sad.

Missing your mouth while eating, the food instead falling into your lap. Awkward.

awesome
Dark chocolate. The darker, the better.

– Cookies that turn out perfectly. There's nothing more aggravating than a failed batch.

These knitted monsters. I die. And I now know what my next knitting project will be.

Laying in bed, looking around at my bedroom, bathed in soft grey early morning light, thinking and praying.

Finally getting around to redoing a wall of art in my room.

Watching Food Revolution. It's absolutely fantastic. Food is something that I've been paying a lot of attention to  where things like fruits, vegetables, and meat come from to if/how the food is processed to unhealthy additives that may be in it. I most definitely recommend watching the show on Hulu!

This quote: "Which of my photographs is my favorite? The one I'm going to take tomorrow." Imogen Cunningham. Love.

The strawberries and sage growing in our garden.  For the past month or so, all our salads have lettuce from the garden Homegrown food = delicious.

Any awkward or awesome moments for you this week? Do tell!

  3. On my way upstairs with my cup of coffee this morning, I tripped on the step, sloshed coffee on my pants, and ripped off part of my toenails.

Obviously, there will be no steps in my future home.

I really love your Paris print! I may have to make a few like that for myself. :)

  12. I can totally relate to that 'awkward' feeling of tripping down stairs. Not. A. Good. Feeling.

So I am in love with your room. I also find it quite interesting that your great grandmother was a reporter in Hollywood! ^_^

P.S. Not trying to pester you or anything - but did you get my comment about Lightroom? ^_^

  13. Yes, I did have an awkward moment with my mom yesterday-
I was practicing my violin when she comes up behind me and has her fist held out. I finish the song while staring at her, then pump her fist. Then I do it again while she stares at me. Then she said- "Open your hand." And she dropped some candy in it....*awkward.* But awesome, 'cause I got candy. :)

    Bethany. :)

  14. Anna Grey: No worries, I got your comment...sorry I didn't respond earlier. While I actually bought Lightroom off Amazon (search for the student/teacher edition) Academic Superstore is trustworthy as well :)

  20. Love your wall art!

My awkward moment of the week.. reposting a link from a news station on facebook about the effects of smoking and letting everyone know what I really think about it (shamefully I smoked for years, possibly as a result to everyone I grew up around smoking, but quit two years ago) then realizing that the majority of the people in my friends list are smokers. Gosh I wish everyone could quit. :/

  25. Sweet pictures! :) Love how you redid the wall in your room...and I am absolutely geeking out that your grandmother (love her dress/ensemble, btw) met Frank Sinatra!!! And in his younger years, too! My great-great aunt only saw him at a concert once.
(And for the record...watching Food Network late at night when its not so great to be eating anything is PURE TORTURE! LOL )

  26. uhh.. I hate my shoe size.. 11 and it HAS to be wide... I can never find cute shoes... *sobs* I've had quite awkward moments this week.
-seeing a spider in the shower, screaming and deciding that I was gonna watch its every move while I quickly finnish up.. then moving my eyes for a split second and he disapears then, I scream and hop out with shaving cream still on my legs... awkward indeed.
