In the midst of editing photographs and putting together posts, it's a question I often ask myself.
What is it about stringing words together with images like colorful beads on a ribbon that appeals to me so? Why do I think about it so often? Why do I blog?
When I clicked "create a blog" so long ago, I had no idea what I was getting myself into, no idea how great an impact blogging would have on my life. As I pondered myriad possibilities that could fit the question of why I blog, it was not easy to narrow it down to one specific thing. After many months sorting and organizing everything in my mind, I sat straight up when I realized what the answer was.
I blog because I am an artist. Not necessarily a paint splattered, beret wearing, brush wielding artist, but an artist whose canvas is a blank screen, whose brushes are keystrokes, and whose palette of paint is instead letters and a camera. As an artist, I blog to share my paintings made of text and photographs, expressing my creative side.
I confess there I times when I question myself, times when I wonder what the heck I'm doing in this world called blogging. There are times when I want to just walk away and quit. There are times when I feel insecure about my work, thinking it's not good enough.
But there are times when I'm so content to be blogging, so happy to do what I do. Despite the insecurities I have, the good always weighs out the bad. Every time I hit "publish post", I know that this is what I ultimately love doing, that being a blogger is the perfect fit for me.
And then there is the blogging community. It contains people like no other, people that I wouldn't have met otherwise.
This is why I blog.
Why do you blog, friend?

I love this. As for me? I blog so I can remember my life in the years to come, so I can focus on being thankful, and so I can express & share myself through art, like you said. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely post (and photos) Carlotta!
ReplyDeleteMy blogging story is a lot like your own. I blog because I love to create things. I love to express myself through my words. With blogging came my photography, which I am forever happy with. Most importantly I blog because I love to write. I discovered that through blogging, and I am forever happy that I did.

I blog because I enjoy simply documenting my life; whether that be in words, pictures or videos. I also like to post my opinions and my beliefs (I do admit, I am very opinionated). I like for people to be able to read what I write, to inspire people, to encourage people, and last but not leaset, to have the privelage of witnessing to people about Jesus! ^_^
ReplyDeleteIt was unique reading this, Carlotta. :)
ReplyDeleteIn answer to your question...
I blog because I want to encourage other young men and women to pursue our King...and to share how God is working in my life...
Even through tough trials, God is with us.
And the message I want to proclaim is that "Our God is Faithful."
So, I guess you could say, I blog in hope that others will walk away from my ramblings renewed in their pursuit of our Savior...and encouraged in His love for them.
Many blessings!
Melanie~
Wonderful post! And your love for blogging shows through! I really think you have a way of putting your posts and blog together that just makes it really appealing to me. You've improved a lot since you're old posts too (yes, I was bored and went back to look). I love what you've created on your blank palette.
ReplyDeleteI think I blog because it's a medium that I can use to get out what's on my mind. I don't include as many photographs as others, partly because I'm only just starting photography, but I think blogging and arguing a point or making a statement is a great way to get that opinion out there. If you have something to say, why not share it? I like that I can put something together, be satisfied with it, and then not be afraid of sharing it with the world. I blog because I love it -- and it keeps me constantly thinking about my world, and what I have to say.

i blog because i love blogging.
ReplyDeletesometimes i feel guilty about blogging (because it's so time consuming, as we all know) but that's just taking the fun out of blogging. when i start thinking of it as a "chore", then i take a break.
but really, blogging is so fun and i can't imagine ever deleting my blog.
Beautiful pictures, and words too. I blog because then I can share my photography and thoughts and interests, while meeting new people. Blogging is a wonderful thing. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you blog Carlotta, I love it. :) I have asked myself that question a lot, and I still need to figure out exactly why, so I appreciate your words! Lovely pictures as always!! <3
ReplyDeleteI blog because I love sharing my photography, and I love being a part of the blogger community! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your kiwi shot!
I blog because I like to share my words and photography with others. I love giving of my talents and sharing what I have, no matter what it is. I also blog because I see it as an opportunity to share the gospel with others and to recount what God is doing in my life. :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love your blog, Carlotta. Keep bloggin' cuz I love reading what you have to say and looking at those beautiful photos of yours!
ReplyDeleteYou ARE an artist and each day your posts become more and more beautiful. I started blogging because I needed a creative outlet...but like you, it's become so much more. I feel like I finally found myself when I started blogging. It's become a place to collect my thoughts, exchange ideas, explore art! And so glad I bumped into you along the way.
ReplyDeleteI'm not the greatest at writing blog posts...and often lack to find things to post about, but I guess I just enjoy it even if no one else reads what I write.

i blog because in 10 years i want to remember what it was like being a teenager. i want to remember the simple things that i found joy in. and also because i want to share my pictures and life with more than just my family! wonderful post! as always, your pictures are stunning!
ReplyDeleteI blog because I love it... because I love journaling and I love recording my latest photos. :)
ReplyDeleteI blog because I like making other peoples' days a little bit better- reading other peoples' blogs brighten my day and I want to do the same in return. :) Beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteI blog to document what God is doing in my life and to encourage others through my journey.
ReplyDeleteI love how you put all that. :) I also blog to express my creativity and feel like I have a place, an outlet.
ReplyDeleteActually, I'm going to do a post about why I blog. I'm still thinking about it, too ;) Great post, my dear. Absolutely beautiful photos :))
ReplyDelete-Jocee <3
I feel like that quite often. why do I blog?
ReplyDeleteIt sometimes feels like blogging is taking over me. sometimes I want to quit too.
I don't know if I should quit or not?
But I think that post was a very good one to why we blog. Thanks :)
-Laura
Thank you for this post :)
ReplyDeletei believe i enjoy blogging to see my finished result. To see my words create the feel I want when someone reads it. Or for them to see a photo I took that takes them to a different place or inspire them.

I blog because it's fun.I love having friends when I can't see any of the ones where I live(homeschooler with busy friends) and finding a ton of new and different people from all over.I love the first picture and your blog layout.Sierra
ReplyDeletei was just about to do that EXACT SAME blog post. but i kinda changed it. i did how and why i started blogging :)
ReplyDeleteI blog because I am a writer who doesn't always know how to make sense of the world--but at least I can make sense of buttons that say "save" or "publish."
ReplyDeleteI blog to share my thoughts and daily happenings with others, and to meet other like minded individuals! :)

Please check out my blog!
Sometimes I feel like "what's the point of blogging?" or "why do I do this?"! I have a healthy recipe food blog, then I have my photo/life blog and sometimes I "take breaks" from blogging because I just lose inspiration! But I always come back, because there's something so happy and invigorating about sharing photos and stories!
ReplyDeleteWell, I was to tell you why I blog. Until I realized, I'm not sure. I like it I suppose. I like being able to keep up with my friends in this way...I'm not sure.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I blog to remember the awesome things about life. :)
ReplyDeletei also blog for kiwi fruits
ReplyDeleteI blog because God speaks to me when I move my fingers across the keyboard. I have learned to love Him more, and I have learned to be able to see Him more in me. I wish I had discovered blogging when I was young like you. Pain is sometimes irreversible, and the worst is the stuff we say in our own heads.
ReplyDeletei love this post. it's something i've often thought also. i blog because of the same reasons you said so well. xo
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I guess i blog for similar reasons. I love giving and sharing inspiration, and connecting with people. I love sharing with people what life outside of north america is like, and i love getting encouraging comments!
ReplyDeletei blog to get inspired and to inspire. lovely post.
ReplyDeletelauren anne
What a fantastic, thoughtful post. I think I blog to try and create order, to have a way to express myself through writing, and to share images that I love. I just like the idea of creating my own ideal magazine online. But mostly, I love the interactions with fellow bloggers! It's so heartening to realize that there are people who share your interests and passions.xx
ReplyDeleteI just came to the same conclusion recently. There are endless creative possibilities when it comes to blogging...love how you summed it up:)
ReplyDeleteExactly why you do, my friend. Exactly why you do :)
ReplyDelete<3 Belly B
I've just got a lot of stuff to say! And I find neat things that I want to share with other people. It's a way to get your word out, or if you are and artist promote your work!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
You Are My Favorite
Great post. I blog so I can remember stuff about my boys and because of all the support I get with all the tough stuff I am going through right now. Gorgeous photos.
ReplyDeleteby the way, Carlotta, you're great at the piano!
ReplyDeletethis is an amazing idea behind blogging. I love reading "why people blog".
ReplyDeleteYou are a great artist. These photos are beautiful.
So profound...
ReplyDeleteI blog because I currently want to share my opinions with the world. I USED to blog because I was all about dolls, but now my blog is more centered around my life. :)
~Miranda
SO, so, so true. I love this. I blog for the same reason. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Hello :) Great reason for blogging! I like it! I have been blogging for nearly a year now and wondering whether my original reason for blogging is actually the same reason I blog now - as it seems to have traveled a different path to that imagined. Still - I am enjoying the journey - and I guess that is why I still blog :)
