| [photos from my trip to paris] |
My favorite cafe in Paris is the one in Montmartre, the pastries and breads lined up artfully behind the shiny glass. Sitting at a little table with a buttery, flaky pain au chocolat and frothy cafe au lait, I'd rest my feet and record my observations. I'd gather up my notebook and camera to explore and wander some more, then head back to my little flat to sit on the roof and watch the sun set, only to repeat it all over again the next day.
It sounds terribly romantic, does it? Simply being an observer of life? Because sometimes being a wallflower in a bustling city sounds so tempting.

So jealous. These are beautiful photos, especially the first one!
ReplyDeleteI am so utterly jealous. Paris is my dream. I have always dreamed of drinking tea while sitting at a cafe in Paris. This was beautiful. You use the perfect words. I must ask, was Paris as amazing as it looks in pictures? How long did you get to be there? Aww, your writing is just absolutely...beautiful.

ReplyDeleteThat sounds really lovely Carlotta and very romantic, but...well don't you want to actually DO something in the world other then wander the streets of Paris?

ReplyDeleteThat first pictures is so amazing. Every time I see it, the travel urge overwhelms me!
ReplyDeletei've always loved that first picture. so very french! i've never been to paris, but hopefully that will change this year. and being and observer in life? of people? it's a deal.
ReplyDeleteI live in a relatively new city (for me) and I love the feeling of just that, being a wallflower. I know some people here and there but sometimes it is just really nice to blend in!! :)
ReplyDeleteUniversity is on my mind right now, and the idea of Amsterdam keeps cropping up. I love that city so much, despite only being there three short days, and I want to live there.
ReplyDeleteParis was beautiful, but I don't think I could live there. You need to be strong and composed and brave to live there, I think, and I've got a while to go yet.
wallflowering is one of my favorite things. I love either performing, or being with one person I truly trust, or simply observing.
ReplyDeletegorgeous, just gorgeous. i have so many relatives and family in france - can't wait to get there someday!

ReplyDeletemmm, i am craving a pain au chocolat and a cafe vienna. let's you and i go to paris together, okay? okay.
ReplyDeleteI love those pictures -- especially that last one. Paris has been on my mind a lot lately. I hate saying it because I feel like every single other girl in the universe also wants to see the Eiffel Tower, but, well, it's true. It's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love just being an observer of life, but sometimes I want to participate in it, too.
being a wallflower sounds incredible. and in a city where english is certainly not the first language, it wouldn't be hard.
