I'd like to go on a roadtrip through North America, over the course of a few weeks, with no set plans or directions. No internet, save for the occasion email checking and photo posting--I need to get away from the constant bombarding of information and focus on what's in front of me. I'd like to drive and drive and drive, stopping to climb the dusty crimson mesas of the southwest, splash in the salty blue green beaches of California, and explore the secluded islands and coves of Oregon. I'd like to find the perfect orange grove and glide under a velvety night sky in the middle of nowhere, stars scattered about like the most precious of jewels. I'd like to make new friends, take changes, and be spontaneous.
I am a dreamer. I am one of those people that comes up with idea after idea, but leave them in the dusty corners of my mind, never brought to fruition. But this dream? This dream I can see so clearly and wonderfully? This is one I'd like to make a reality.
(the perfect roadtrip playlist)
What's a dream trip you'd like to take?

Can I come with you? Seriously, I have family all across North America I haven't seen in years. This dream sounds absolutely perfect♥

This is so beautiful Carlotta. I've had a similar dream for a couple of years now that I'll hopefully be able to make a reality someday!
ReplyDeleteyes, yes, yes, with all my heart. this sounds so perfect...let's go together, shall we? xx.
ReplyDeleteoh, and that playlist? perfect.
ReplyDeletethis sounds like such a fabulous (and adventurous) dream carlotta, that i am hoping you will one day be able to experience :) it sounds so refreshing.
ReplyDeleteThis is simply wonderful. And as silly and cliche as it may sound, I really would like to go to Paris, or just France in general. And we might as well throw London and Italy in there as well. :)
ReplyDelete~ Abby
yes, definitely go to paris at least once in your lifetime! it's magical. cliches are overrated. ;)
DeleteI would love to join you - that sounds absolutely scrumptious. :)
ReplyDeletehugs,
~Bree
I am a dreamer, too. Dream after dream, most never fulfilled, but it's still fun, right?
ReplyDeleteI would love to go to France and Germany (where my ancestors are from) one day. And Italy would be fun, too. And also, like you, I would love to go on a long road trip, traveling the country. I've actually never seen the ocean, so that is a must, too. :)
That sounds like a beautiful trip. I would love to tag along with you! :)
ReplyDeleteOh gooooosh, this sounds lovely! I'm a dreamer too, Carlotta! I unfortunately never ever get to travel so my mind constantly plans out trips and hopes for the days when I can go! I'll come with you! Haha. :) Loove those pictures by the way!
ReplyDeletethose pictures are gorgeous carlotta! you have such talent and i always love your blog :)
ReplyDeleteI would really love to see the plains and prairies in the midwest US. In the blooms of spring and summer, and also the barren fields in winter. And I would love to witness a storm coming over the landscape.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to drive through America with no plans, and just take a million pictures :)
ReplyDeletejust promise to take me with you. okay? okay.

any chance you'd like to extend your roadtrip into canada? i just live over the border, so perhaps you could make an exception. ;) but seriously, this post is basically my thoughts at the moment. summer just needs to get over here asap. also, your playlist is genius and i swear i have every single one of those songs on my ipod. but that's no surprise... ;)
ReplyDeletelove twin sister
no, I'd definitely include canada! I don't think I could bypass it ;) and yay! glad grooveshark is working for you :)
Deleteps. for months, i've been looking for a playlist program that actually functions in canada, and grooveshark seems to be working. so, thank-you!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll be able to make this dream come true! sounds like it would be a blast :)
ReplyDeleteThis post? Just - love. And that second photo? Just - amazing.
ReplyDeleteLet's just say - I *love* your dream. I've always wanted to do something like that. But the way you've put it into words is so beautiful.
I'm with Abbey - come to Canada! You'll like it here ;)
At this point, I do want to see Paris, and London, and Oxford, - the usuals, you know. Probably Italy and New Zealand and the US, too. This summer I have an amazing oppurtunity - I may be spending two weeks in Finland!! I'm absolutely thrilled. I've never even been out of Canada before. The thought that my dreams of traveling could become a reality this soon? Well - it's just awesome. (My dad was born in Finland, and a lot of my extended family that I've never met live there as well - great aunts & uncles, second cousins, so on & so forth.)

This post filled me with longing. I'm aching to go.
ReplyDeleteThis really sounds amazing! Aimless road trips, where you go just for the sake of going are really the best :) My dream trip is really similar to yours, except transcended into the wilderness of Australia :)
ReplyDeleteI hope your dream soon becomes reality x
Unbelievable. I'm actually planning on doing this. You should read a book called Blue Highways by William Least Heat Moon. It's what inspired me to do my trip -- in the next few years I'd like to. It's going to potentially incorporate several things. The first is to travel the undiscovered parts of this amazing country. To see what so few have already seen, and to discover the lost bits of history amongst the growing nation. I want to travel the state highways and avoid interstates at all costs, soaking in the countryside and the culture as I go along my way -- and all on a motorcycle too. Just me, the bike, and a direction on a compass.
ReplyDeleteI also want to reach out to all who follow my blog, and make a point of meeting up with those who live in the States along my journeys. It'd be a great opportunity to share stories, and finally connect in real life.
This would of course cost lots of money... but I'd like to think that I can make it happen. Where there's a will there's a way. I hope you get to do the traveling you have in mind. If ever you'd like a companion along the way, let me know.

That book sounds interesting--I'll have to give it a read...and your trip sounds wonderful too! I'd love to connect with the friends I've made through blogging as well.
DeleteOh goodness, wouldn't I LOVE that?! You have a dream, Carlotta, and you will do it someday.
ReplyDeleteMy dream trip is to go to every single country in Europe...every single one.
I would love to visit California. Specifically, Los Angeles. Since I was ten years old, I have always had this deep desire to not only go there, but to LIVE there. I feel like God has just said, "Go." and I am therefore going to "Go.".
ReplyDeleteBy the way -- While you are roadtripping, make sure you come to North Carolina!
So, this has actually been one of my dreams too. (more alikeness...;) let's go together, okay? Slipping away for a summer to traverse the open road, stopping at dusty towns quiet without interruption and camping under trees tall as the sky. Let's go, alright? That would be amazing and so much fun. love you, chicaaa! x
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, now that I've read this I've formed the dream as well. This sounds just so perfect and so lovely! You know, just dropping everything and going on an adventure. I'm not really a spontaneous person, and I always feel like if I don't have a plan something is going to fall apart. But, this once, this just sounds so tantalizing!

ahh, carlotta, you speak my mind. just this week I was talking with a friend, and we really want to just, take a roadtrip. go, explore, adventure, travel. I would beyond love to do that someday. I am visiting new york city for a weekend at the end of this month with friends, so I suppose that counts for something. but still, an extended roadtrip with friends? it's a bucket list item. make it a reality, girl. (: question: do you drive yet? I have no clue what the required age is in oklahoma, haha.
ReplyDeletehow exciting! I'd like to visit nyc sometime too. and no, I don't drive yet. I could get my permit, though...I'm just too lazy. ha! one of these days...
DeleteSuch gorgeous images!
ReplyDeletePrince Edward Island. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly what I want to do too. One of my life goals is to road trip around North America and visit every state. I graduate from university in a few weeks and I'm moving from the UK to Canada to start off my journey. You have the power to make your dreams come true!
ReplyDeleteOh. *sigh* This is wonderful. I'd love to travel someday. I have a gorgeous wanderlust that I cannot wait to fufill one day.
ReplyDeleteI have so many places that I want to go. But right now, my best friend and I are planning a roadtrip as soon as we turn eighteen. Where to? We don't know yet, although a few suggestions have been thrown up in the air. I cannot wait 'til that lovely day.
xoxo,
Alexxus
