There are many things I could crown as my favorite part of our house. It could be the cozy aura that transforms the house when the sky takes on a pallid hue and threatens to cry. Maybe it's the shadows that are painted thick and rich on the wood on sunny days. Perhaps it's the secrets this house hides--there's something wonderfully special about living in a house built almost eighty years ago. It could be the breakfast room where dance parties take place or the basement that's perfect for sleepovers or the guest room off the garage that I flee to when I need a change of pace. Maybe it's the cool minty tile in the bathroom, the wood floors that creak comfortingly, or the backyard that begs for cartwheels across its surface and picnics on the grass.
But mostly, I think my favorite part is the fact that it's a home. It's decorated with memories and filled with love and laughter. And the people I share it with? They really can't get any better.
What's a favorite part of your house?

decorated with memories. I love that phrase. the simple-ness of these shots is lovely, Carlotta. hmm...a favorite spot in my house..maybe the living room? I've laughed there so much with my family.
ReplyDeletewhoa, a gun. i'm scared of you now, repunzel! ;) i kid, i kid. love you, girl! these are amazing.

Deletelove love these shots!! I lovvve my porch. <3 It's got a swing!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite spot in the house is definitely my bedroom. It's the calmest, cleanest place in the house, and it's where I can be alone with my daydreams. (Or schoolwork, as the case may be!)
ReplyDeletebeautiful words and images. you have a talent.
ReplyDeletethese are...wow. some of my favorite photos of yours, carlotta. they're very raw and rich and real. your home looks beautiful. one of my favorite parts of my house is my cozy wood-burning stove--it really is the best place in winter. (:
ReplyDeleteYour house is so beautiful! and I love the way you describe it :)
ReplyDeleteyour house seems beautiful, and i love the way you photograph it. and my house is pretty old, too - coming on 90 years now - and it once stood on a golf course, which I think is pretty neat. old houses are amazing - i love to imagine who was in the room i'm in decades ago and what they were doing ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the photos! Favorite part about my house - it sits on a hill, providing amazing views.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say my favorite part has to be the living room. I love seeing the sun go down through the windows
ReplyDeleteI love how you capture each uniqueness of your house. It combines graditude with beauty.

Gorgeous! I love how you captured simple things so beautifully. The best thing about my house is how I can hear birds chirping outside my window.
ReplyDeletelove the flag/rifle shot. totally looks like something that could be in my parent's oklahoma house.
ReplyDelete*parents'
ReplyDeleteoh, and i just realized it's a bb gun - not a rifle. whoops! (my dad would be so embarrassed.)

I love your photos as always!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love our house. How, even when my parents and I argue, I feel safe. I think that is the best thing--the safety and the comfort.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing pictures of your house - old houses inspire me. :)
ReplyDeleteMy house was built when I was born, so I can't say it's been around for very long, but I can say I've never moved. I've always lived in the same house, and I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

ReplyDeleteWow, your house is beautiful. Mine is brand new -- we built it ourselves from the ground up. Still, there's something impressive about an 80-year-old house.

ReplyDeleteI think my favorite part of my house is the kitchen/family room/eating area (no, I'm not picking three favorites. They're all attached :)). It's so homey :)

decorated with memories? you've got a way with words. really really. and your house is beautiful. i love that you've captured the simple details and i'm admiring each one.
ReplyDeletemy favorite part of my house is each room and the memories that they hold. different people have come and gone, walked through the doorways and down the halls. it makes me happy to think back on whose feet have stepped on the floors. its like my house is a book, each room holds the chapters...together this place makes up a story of life.
beautiful photos! I have no idea what exactly is my favorite part of our house. I think just the fact that it's home. :)
