I've gotten a number of requests for a post on my journal, so here it is! Since January I've been keeping a little book that I fill with pretty things and bits of my writing. I've written in a diary for a few years, but it's nothing special; it usually consists of a few scribbled words every night and, unless you consider the chicken scrawl that is my handwriting artistic, isn't exactly aesthetically pleasing. My journal, however, is something I don't mind other people seeing. I don't write in it every day, but when I do, the pages consist of song lyrics, poems, and beautified lists; it's like a physical version of my tumblr. I take pleasure in collecting pretty bits and bobs (my favorites include paint chips, lace, and old book pages) and putting it all together until it flows--it's such a creative release.
Do you journal?
ps I spruced up my sweet friend abbey's blog a few days ago--take a look and give her some love?

So beautiful. I believe you've just inspired me to begin my very own art journal. ;)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. Are you using a moleskine journal for this?
ReplyDeleteno, I'm not actually...it's an old hardback notebook I'd been saving for something special. :)
DeleteWhoa. I love this. I want to start one of these myself. But I want it in a moleskin, soooooooo... I'm going to have to wait. a little bit. :) But this is so great! :) Jealous of your creativity.

I love this! I've always wanted to have a journal like this, but I never have. A summer plan, perhaps? :)
ReplyDeleteI ALWAYS journaled when I was a kid. The sheer beauty & artistry of yours makes me think I should start again!
ReplyDeletelove your journal! Keeping a journal is something I've done for years. It's so nice to look back on. I started writing a new journal out last week after finishing one that took 9 months to complete. Making an art journal has been something I've wanted to do for a while now after seeing many from bloggers. They are always such an inspiration to look at. :-) thanks for sharing with us a peek at your journal :)
ReplyDeleteI have kept a journal--albeit inconsistently--ever since I was little, but I have always wanted to do something artistic like this. it's beautiful, carlotta!
ReplyDeleteHi Carlotta, I just came across your blog and it is just beautiful. I love all your doodles in your journal, very inspiring and something I should revisit.

you're making me want to go slap some color onto a canvas or scrawl some pretty words. xx.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty! I really love the book pages. I keep a journal kind of like this but it's more like tons and tons of different lists.
ReplyDeleteSooooo lovely.
ReplyDeleteSo So Beautiful...I'm inspired to start journaling prettier! :)
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! It reminds me of my art journal - a composition book whose cover is decked out with modpodged magazine clippings, scrapbook paper, and a button or two and inside are some ticket stubs, photos, and writing snippets. I'm so bad at keeping it up, though.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely journal you have <3 :) I love keeping journals!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the song Skinny Love! I've listened to it at least fifty times in the past two days! does anyone else do this?
ReplyDeleteI adore your journal. I've a lyric and quote fanatic and I love how you put it all together so simply and beautifully. As usual, I'm leaving inspired. :)
Tessa Brooke
oh yes, when I discover a new track I listen to it no less than one hundred times in the first few days.
Deleteso beautiful, ladyy! love your journaling + poetry + art. just lovely. :) x
ReplyDeleteThis is beyond awesome. It's like a scrapbook, notebook, sketchbook, collage all in one... awesome.
ReplyDeleteWish my journal looked as pretty as this.
ReplyDeleteSuch an artsy journal! :)
ReplyDeletelove. i've been neglecting my art journal lately, but you've inspired me to open it back up again.
ReplyDeleteps. 'chicken scratches' would be MY penmanship. yours, on the other hand, should be on some royal document or something. ;)
lovely! both my journals are almost purely writing, but i've been meaning to start up an artistic one. this will serve to inspire me :)
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity of your journal! SO beautiful!
ReplyDeleteyou = inspiring. this journal? i love.
ReplyDeleteYou're crazy talented, girl! Beautiful journal! :)

ReplyDeletelove this! there is something so wonderful about keeping a physical, real life journal you know? i have always kept one since i was young and love it :) have a lovely week!

This is pure gorgeousness. I just love it. Being a writer, scribbler, and am prone to random burst of inspiration and creativity, notebooks are my best friend. I have one for just pure journaling - detailing events, talking about my day, and expressing feelings and dreams. I have another that I recently bought purely for poetry and prose. I would love to get a moleskin journal, though. :]

This made me smile. I journal as well, very similar to how you do, actually. It doesn't need to be well thought out and planned. The more you just scrawl, paste, doodle, etc. the more "you" it is. This was an inspiring post for me, thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning! I'm officially inspired. :)
ReplyDeleteI recently started a fresh journal... now you've got me inspired! Abbey's blog looks lovely, by the way. :)
ReplyDeletemuch love,
hannah
I love your journal! I always "try" to have little books or journals that look "used" and creative, but...doesn't usually work.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the WonderfuL work!
wow, that's so clever! i love the way they look - very pretty!
ReplyDeletehugs,

ReplyDeleteThis is such a lovely idea! I have been writing in journals for as long as I can remember, but I think I might start an art journal. :)

ReplyDeleteyour journal is lovely! i have an inspiration one, too. :] they're so much fun! i can just be messy + weird + random + creative at the same time. :D
ReplyDeleteThis is a BEAUTIFUL journal! so inspiring! Did you come up with "I think and think and think, I've thought myself out of happiness a million times..." ? Wow...I just LOOOOVE that quote!
