So this is it, then: the end of another year. In some ways, December 28th, 2012 doesn't feel too different from December 28th, 2011: the same quick succession of days passing, the same thoughts rolling around my mind, and the same holiday traditions that have come and gone faster than a finger-snap. But woven between the sameness, newness has crept in: new places visited, new people met, and new experiences under my belt. Time is a funny thing. Things change quietly and gradually each day, until you look back at the year and realize how much things have changed and how far you've come. Friends fade in and out, tasks go from impossible to accomplished, months begin and end, and through it all we've grown, lived, and learned that all is possible through Him who gives strength. We've come a long way since last year, and next year we'll be even further. When you take it one day at a time, the future isn't so bad. Here's to 2013.

this is lovely and resonating, carlotta. this time around, december is at once distinctly different and the same. so many things have changed since last year, and mostly good things have happened.

ReplyDeletei've especially been experiencing the whole "it seems like nothing has changed when you're in the midst of change but when you look back you see how everything is different" sort of thing. in some cases it's good, and in others it could be better, but then, it could be worse, you know?
