indian warrior princesses

2.27.2013

Have I ever mentioned how much I love (love love love) being a big sister?

Lilly got a teepee for her seventh birthday a few weeks ago and these two turkeys dressed up and played indian all day long.

And Mariam has taken to randomly giving me big hugs and telling me that I'm beautiful just when I need it.

Life lately has been a flurry of college searching and preparation, and while I'm excited to begin a new chapter of life, oh, it's going to be so hard being away from my family. Even though I'm a grouch about it sometimes, it's such a joy to watch the littles grow up.

And in watching them grow up, I am really, truly looking forward to the day when I have a little fam of my own. I'm only sixteen years old and that might be a strange thing to say, but I cannot wait to be a wife and mama.

Gosh, my family is the greatest blessing I could ever ask for.

  5. yes yes yes
and goodness no, that's not a strange thing to say! i'm sixteen and i've wanted to be a wife and mama for as long as i can remember. i have friends sometimes who say, "you really want to stay at home with your kids?" or "you want to have babies so soon? why not wait and enjoy grownup life childless for awhile." yes, i will be grateful for whatever life God gives me, and i will rejoice in the years i spend single and without my own little family! but my prayer is that someday, i will be the somebody that a man will be glad to come home to, and the somebody that a few of the children on this world will be glad to call "mama".
    and i digress. :)

  8. Yep, yep, yep. I LOVE being a big sister to my two littles. Even when I get frustrated with them because I'm impatient and selfish. I wouldn't ever trade it for anything in the world.
Also, your two indians are the cutest.

  15. I'm a little sister, and trust me -- having an older sibling at home is lovely, but it's even more lovely to watch them spread their wings, follow their dreams, and know that you will be next.

  16. Oh how precious. Yes, sometimes I just stop amidst the busy and look at how fast my siblings are growing, makes me want to take more conscious efforts to spend time with them. And oh yes, I look forward to being a wife and mother someday too if it's the Lord's will. :) I don't think it's strange at all that you're already thinking about your future. I think it shows a growth of character that is beautiful.

    Blessings, friend

    1. I'd most likely be going the fall of 2014, so no, not at 16. But since I'm a junior, I kinda need to start getting everything organized...

    1. Yes, I have decided to go! I'm looking into majoring in visual communications (specifically advertisement)...there's a local private college I'm thinking about, as well as a couple liberal arts colleges (like Hillsdale). :)

saw your above comment -- and if you're talking about the Hillsdale in Michigan (not sure if there's any other), my goodgood friend Bailey is a freshman there and she LOVES it. if you started seriously considering it, I could give you her email or Facebook information so you could chat with her about it. :) and she actually is a blogger too. :)

  29. Can't wait to hug these girls one day. And maybe sit in the teepee, if Lilly's cool with that.
And don't stress too much about college and such right now! I'm a senior and still figuring things out, along with most of the other people in my grade. But I'm so so glad you're excited about your dreams. You should be. :)
